New Abingdon 5 a side Thursday season gets underway!!!

It was really exciting to kick off the new Abingdon Thursday 5 a side season last night and great to see no points matches played. We did unfortunately have a very late drop out by B09 FC so The Pie Eaters were awarded a win in one of the early games but apart from that hiccup all the match played were league ones so a good start. We will be confirming with B09 FC before their game next week although they have apologised already and said they will be back.

Two teams that finished first and second in Div 2 last season are now the top two in the Premier League after the opening round of matches. SWXI went top with a 25-6 win over Narcos while FC Hog defeated new team Robinsons Barmy Army 15-2. The other three matches in the Prem were much closer as reigning Champions Nathan Collins FC won 6-2 against Wootton FC, Eagles beat Xavi Dodgers 4-2 while Ye Mon playing their first Thursday night match after moving from Wednesday's won 6-4 against Carlos Puhol.

Abingdons FC went to the top of Div 1 as they defeated Zircotekkas 9-1. The rest of the matches played in Div 1 were close but with plenty of goals flying in in all three. Sweaty Stockman took the win against Burton's Boys 6-4 while Out On Bale won by the same scoreline against Eat Sleep Lose Repeat. Finally Gylfi Pleasures held on for a 5-4 victory over Megs Fit.

All in all and successful first night of the season down at Tilsley Park. Thank you to Dean for running the night and to our refs Martin and Alan. Please make a big effort to organise team's in advance and not leave it until the last minute, it's all about preparing early, I've run a team myself for years. We also have a group of single players to call upon if needed.

If you are looking to join a league and have a committed bunch of players please get in touch on 07969 731086 or get your team signed up online for one of our nights in Abingdon, follow the link below, Thanks Rich
