Sunday 31st October - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was a good evening's football overall in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week.  We were disappointed to see another non-attendance from Fred West Ham in Division Four, they have been subsequently removed.

We thank Hales Angels, Mxrleys Angels, Boca Seniors and B45 Unathletic for contacting us and cancelling their matches, with the league being affected slightly by the Aston Villa v West Ham game, although most probably wish they had played now!

Congratulations to Sting Dem FC who sealed the title with a game to spare this week as they won the battle of the top two by a 2-0 scoreline, meaning they cannot be caught by AFC Wip now.  Athletic Mandem missed their opportunity to go into second spot as they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Dad's Army, whilst Chiellini Con Carne confirmed a mid-table finish with a 4-1 win over Law Abiding Sigurdsson.  Finally, Sporting Madrid proved their usual resilient selves as they and Chivas Primera couldn't be separated and played a goalless draw.

D&G United are not letting their foot off the gas despite confirming the Division One title a couple of weeks ago, they were 2-1 winners over The Hungry Boys this week, conceding only their sixth goal of the campaign in the process.  Dolce and Lallana moved into second spot with a 2-0 win against Brunswick Bladez who drop to fourth place this week.  Whilst Chivas Supplemento attempt to nick the final promotion spot too as they were 3-0 victors over Brummie Boys.  Only Put Matip In were 2-0 winners over MPU as they keep their albeit faint promotion hopes alive.

Division Two sees the top three continue to battle it out for those two promotion slots.  Any of the three could get promoted or miss out, although FKW's goal difference sees them in a stronger position, it would take a big turnaround for them to miss out.  The main battle is between the hard to break down Gledfellas who recorded another 1-0 win this week, and third placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz, who shared the spoils with FKW in a 1-1 draw.  A Dumbledore win would've made things even more interesting going into this week!  Elsewhere Birmingham Tiki Taka Elite will be playing Division Two football again next season as they were 3-0 winners over Cesc Pistols in a convincing performance.

Pique Blinders 2-0 win over second placed Come Digne With me put their promotion from Division Three beyond doubt this week.  Digne still need a point to confirm their promotion and will look to get the job done over lowly B45 Unathletic this weekend to seal this.

Division 4's climax is going to be an exciting one this week as three teams are separated by a solitary point.  The top two meet with Tikka Taka and Orange Tangerines going head to head.  If third placed Dijkin Dias can follow up this weekends 4-1 win over Winding Wanderers with another win they should seal promotion for themselves, as someone in the top two has to drop points in what promises to be a mouth watering weekend.

We have a new season kicking off on Sunday 14th November!  Sign up today to reserve your place!  All Abilities are welcome and we are offering FREE ENTRY WORTH £25 to anyone who joins before this!
