Sunday 12th February - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across the divisions which was pleasing to see.

The top of the Premier Division looks even more congested after this weeks action, as four teams are separated by just two points.  Chiellini Con Carne now have the lead as they moved to the summit with a hard earned 1-0 victory over Chivas Primera, whilst NeverLoseAgain were 2-1 winners over Gledfellas to find themselves in second, level with the leaders.  Dads Army dropped to third with a combination of the previous results and themselves being frustrated by bottom team The Tormenta, a goalless draw all they could muster this week.  Damo Carew completed the divisions action as they looked in impressive form, leaprfogging their opponents The Hungry Boys in the table after thrashing them 6-2.

Division One remains very much unchanged as the top two Chivas Supplemento and We've Got Diogo Jota had to settle for a point apiece as they cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw, leaving the league leaders with a two point advantage.  Third placed Athletico Northfield took their chance to close the gap on the teams above them as they claimed a 2-1 win over AFC Kings Heath, whilst Tikka Taka moved into fourth place by beating Goals Aloud 4-1.  Robben Me Blind moved three points clear of the drop zone as they beat relegation rivals Hales Angels 1-0 in a tightly competed encounter.

Division Two leaders Elgar Penthouse were stopped for a second week in three this week as they had to settle for another 1-1 draw, this time Metch FC frustrating them and allowing the two teams below them to level up on points.  Second placed Alton Wanderers had the chance to go to the summit but in the end had to be happy with a goalless draw against Bell Them Birds Back, whilst third placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz 2-1 win against Invictus FC sees them right in the hunt for the title in a finely poised division.  Big Fat Dave got a well earned 5-0 win over strugglers Mxrleys Angels and brought themselves back into the survival hunt.

On to Division Three, where leaders NDicka In Dias continue their quest for back to back promotions, a 3-1 win over second placed Hicks and Eel moves them two points outright leaders over their rivals.  That result allows 2Legs1Rock right back into the mix as the third placed team were 2-1 victors over The Cotters, which sees them level with second.  Dead Ballers were 4-3 winners over Boshers as they climb to fourth place and only two points off the promotion spots, whilst the action was completed by Veggie United who moved out of the drop zone with a 3-2 win against bottom side Naughty Pinky.

The ever close Division Four got even closer this week as leaders Masterbaiters had to settle for a 1-1 draw with third placed MSC FC this week but managed to keep their place at the summit as second placed Top G's were humbled by Brummie Boys who trounced them by 3 goals to nil and move into fourth place, whilst Gangsters Allardyce's 3-1 win over The Pie Guys and Diamond Scrubs 5-3 win over Birmingham United means the division is split by two points between second and the second relegation place in seventh!

The new Division Five played their second game this week and saw two further new teams join the action. Both teams had losing starts but have something to build on as Ben Mee Over were beaten 3-0 against 6 Offenders, whilst Shush United got beat 5-0 by Hardly Athletic.  Elsewhere a 4-1 win by Tealby United over Flacid Van Winkel, and a well earned 6-1 thrashing by She Was Only XI over MLCC completed a fine evenings action.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment towards the league which keeps the league running on time and smoothly each week too.  As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league, you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.
