Sunday 19th February - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across all six divisions, the only disappointment being Shush United in Division Five, who have now been removed from the league with immediate effect.

Boshers have also withdrawn from Division Three after playing out their withdrawal notice, we thank them for their time in the league and hope to see them back in the future.

We are delighted to welcome new teams Sporting Lesbians (Division Three) and Tiger Force (Division Five) to the league as replacements for the above, and wish both good luck going into their first matches on Sunday 26th February.

Chiellini Con Carne remain at the top of the pile as they claimed an impressive 2-0 win over Gledfellas this week, keeping them ahead of second placed Neverloseagain on goal difference, they themselves were 3-2 winners against Damo Carew in a well competed game as they look to sniff out a weakness in their rivals.  Dad's Army remain in third and handily placed to topple the two above them as their 2-1 victory against The Hungry Boys keeps them just a point off the pace.  Chivas Primera moved out of the drop zone with a 3-1 victory against The Tormenta thanks in part to Hungry Boys defeat.

Division One leaders Chivas Supplemento remain top of the table despite a shock 3-0 reverse at the hands of Tikka Taka as the third placed team move within 2 points of the summit after that result.  We've Got Diogo Jota stay second but were unable to take full advantage of the leaders defeat, a 1-1 draw against Athletico Northfield puts them a point off the pace.  Hales Angels gave their survivial hopes a boost this week with a 2-0 win over AFC Kings Heath, whilst bottom team Goals Aloud got their first point of the campaign as they look to mount an unlikely survival, they ended 1-1 with Robben Me Blind.

Division Two leaders The Elgar Penthouse stay where they are despite recent stutterings as they drew 0-0 with second place Alton Wanderers, the leaders third draw in four games.  Third placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz could not capitalise on the two above them dropping a point though, they were beaten 3-1 at the hands of Bell Them Birds Back who continue to improve week on week.  Metch FC claimed their third win in five after a recent turnaround in results, they were 4-0 winners over bottom team Mxrleys Angels to remain in fifth, whilst BigFatDave moved out of the drop zone with a 2-0 win over Invictus who they leapfrogged in the table.

On to Division Three, where leaders NDicka In Dias had to settle for a point this week as third placed 2Legs1Rock held them to a goalless draw.  Hicks and Eel took full advantage of this result as they romped to a 7-0 victory over Naughty Pinky to move within a point of the leaders, whilst fourth placed Dead Ballers edged past The Cotters by 2 goals to 1 to stay in the promotion hunt.  Veggie United continue their encouraging start since joining and are yet to lose, their third win on the spin was a 2-0 win against Sporting Lesbians.

Division Four leaders Masterbaiters suffered a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Diamond Scrubs this week, and as a result saw their lead at the top reduced to a solitary point after second placed Top G's were 2-0 winners against Birmingham United to ramp up the pressure.  Brummie Boys were held to a 0-0 draw by The Pie Guys who are no stranger to a goalless draw, their third in seven outings.  Gangsters Allardyce compledted the action with a single goal victory over MSC FC.

The 6 Offenders claimed their third win in a row in Division Five, as they were 6-0 victors over MLCC, moving them to the top of the table on goal difference, despite Tealby United's 2-1 win over She Was Only XI.  Ben Mee Over got their first win in their second game since joining, they were 3-1 winners against Hardly Athletic in a well drilled performance.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment towards the league which keeps the league running on time and smoothly each week too.  As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league, you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.
