Sunday 5th March - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week overall, with all teams in attendance for their matches throughout the night as scheduled and some well competed matches played across the divisions.

Premier Division leaders NeverloseAgain FC moved three points clear this week as they were 2-1 winners over Chivas Primera, whilst second placed Chiellini Con Carne were beaten by the same scoreline against Damo Carew.  Dads Army keep their foot in the door in the title hunt after they were 2-0 winners against Gledfellas so remain three points off the leaders, whilst new team Schlongcaster Rovers got off the mark with an impressive 4-1 win over The Hungry Boys on their debut.

It's even tighter at the top of Division One after this week as leaders We've Got Diogo Jota were beaten 2-1 against Tikka Taka who move into second and level on points with this weeks opponents!  Athletico Northfield also ran out 2-1 winners over Robben Me Blind, as they complete the trio of teams on 12 points!  Chivas Dropped to fourth and a point off the leaders as they were beaten 3-2 against Hales Angels.

In Division Two, the top two continue to slog it out and stay level on points.  Elgar Penthouse were dominant 6-0 winners against Mxrleys Angels, whilst Alton Wanderers FC were 5-2 winners against Invictus FC as they continue to keep the pressure on.  Third placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz lost ground on he promotion places as they were handsomely beaten 3-0 against Metch FC who move to within a point of their opponents.  Completing the action in the division saw Bell Them Birds Back move three points clear of BigFatDave whom they're immediately above in the table, edging past them by 2 goals to 1.

 Division Three's top three teams are only split by a single point and that remains the case after this week as all three were winners.  Hicks and Eel stay top on goal difference with a 1-0 win over Sporting Lesbians, whilst NDicka In Dias were 3-1 winners against The Cotters as they keep the pressure on, and 2Legs1Rock ran out convincing 4-1 victors over Veggie United as they keep up their promotion bid.  The action was completed by bottom team Naughty Pinky who got their first points of the season on the board, beating Dead Ballers FC 2-0.

In Division Four, Masterbaiters lead was cut to a solitary point this week as they were held to a 1-1 draw by third placed Brummie Boys, and second placed Top G's took advantage of this result with a 3-0 victory over The Pie Guys.  Fourth placed Gangsters Allardyce nicked a 2-1 win against Diamond Scrubs, keeping themselves in the promotion hunt as only three points separates the top four.  MSC FC moved into fifth place with a 2-1 win over bottom team Birmingham United.

Division Five saw The 6 Offenders claim their fourth win on the bounce this week as they thrashed Tiger Force 7-0, as did Tealby United who romped to a 12-1 victory against MLCC.  Flacid Van Winkel occupy third place and won a nine goal thriller against Ben Mee Over which finished 6-3.  The action was completed by a much closer game, with She Was Only XI running out 1-0 winners over Hardly Athletic.
