Sunday 8th January - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was a good start to the new season and to 2023 in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week overall.  We did have non-attendances from a handful of teams unfortunately.  Ballers or Draws (Division Two) and Gangsters Allardyce (Division Four) have confirmed their returns on Sunday 15th January and we look forward to seeing them return.

We have removed FC Bournabeu from the league following their non-attendance without notifying us.  We welcome new team 2 Legs 1 Rock to the league as their replacement and wish these good luck going into their debut fixture on Sunday 15th January as they join into Division Three.

Chiellini Con Carne got off to a fine start for the new season as they ran out 4-0 winners over The Tormenta in the Premier Division.  There were also wins for The Hungry Boys who overcame Chivas Primera by 3 goals to 2, whilst Gledfellas edged past newly promoted Damo Carew by a 2-1 scoreline.

In Division One, Hales Angels started the season off well, running out 5-2 winners over newly promoted Goals Aloud.  The other three games in the division were separated by a single goal, Chivas Supplemento edging past Robben Me Blind by a 2-1 scoreline, whilst Tikka Taka overcame Athletico Northfield, and AFC Kings Heath edged past Diogo Jota, both by a single goal.

Division Two saw newly promoted Elgar Penthouse put in an unforgiving performance against new team Bell Them Birds, running out 7-0 winners on the debutantes.  The other two league games were closely fought, as Dumbledore Pure Bludz and Alton Wanderers ran out 2-1 winners over BigFatDave and Mxrleys Angels respectively.

Division Three saw Hicks and Eel adapt to their new division without missing a beat, they thrashed It's Getting Messi by 7 goals to nil, whilst The Cotters were 3-1 winners over Boshers in another convincing performance to kick off their campaign.

Top G's started their Division Four campaign off in astonishing form, smashing new boys Diamond Scrubs by 13 goals to 2, whilst the game between The Pie Guys and new boys Birmingham United was a lot closer, Pie Guys edging past their opponents 1-0.

We wish all teams good luck going into their games on Sunday 15th January with Birmingham's premier providers of small sided football.  As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.
