A terrific season of the Northampton Sunday 7-a-side league came to an end this week, with a last-gasp twist in the title race to finish the campaign in the same exhilarating way it had gone on all season. 

Whilton and Hangover went into the final game of the season locked at 30 points, with all eyes on the final winner-takes-all-showdown. 

And Hangover came in clutch, toppling their opponents who had led on goal difference till that point to clinch the title at the death! 

A stellar season couldn’t have ended in better fashion, with the top four all having great seasons. 

Gromit Mug finished third, just two points behind Whilton, and Never Back Down came in fourth with 25 points.
