MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 13

What an action packed night we had over at Waterside tonight with plenty of goals and amazing football on show!

We started the night with Monico v Range Rovers. Both sides were lookin got continue their recent upturn in form. Both sides got off to a positive start but it was Monico who took the early advantage and took a comfortable 3-1 lead into HT. The 2nd half saw more of the same great football to see out victory with a 6-3 score line. Rovers had their fair share of chances but it was clinical Monico who took the win in this one.

Also at 8 we had Benfleet v Inter Mivan. Inter are pushing for 2nd place in the table whilst Benfleet are looking to add results to their impressive recent performances. Both sides matched each other for the first 10 mins as there were little chances. It took a great goal from Inter to open the score line and that followed by a quick 2nd just before HT. The 2nd half saw both sides miss plenty of chances with Inter having the majority of shots on target. 2-0 the final score in this one and the runner up position goes down to the final week.

Then at 8:40 we had Balotellitubbies v Expected Toulouse. The 2 bottom sides were both showing signs of improvement before tonight and coming head to head allowed one to build confidence ahead of the new season. Both sides started well and Balo took an early lead. This was then cancelled out by a penalty just before HT to make it evens at the break. The 2nd half was just as close and both sides missed some huge chances at either end. It took a very late goal from Balo to take the win and secure their first victory. Unlucky in the end for a positive Toulouse performance but this will give Balo some huge confidence ahead of the new season.

Also at 8:40 we had a friendly between new side Queens Park Strangers and Benfleet. A tight affair between the two sides and this saw the game go into HT at 0-0. The 2nd half was very similar to the first as both defences looked to cancel each other out. It took a great individual goal from Queens Park to secure the 1-0 win. A solid performance from the new side.

Then at 9:20 we had another friendly which saw another new team Coming Home v Inter Mivan. Inter took an early lead in this one after the GK fumbled the ball over the line. But the reaction from the new boys was incredible and they ended up winning 3-1. This was a good sign of things to come against a side fighting for 2nd in the league.

Our final game saw soon to be 5 times champions, Neil FC v Biffta. The games between these two are always a great watch as both play fast paced football. Neil started well and took an early goal 2 lead. But Biffta fought back and brought the game back to 2-2 and showed they can match the champions on the night. But Neil kicked on before HT and went in 4-2 up. A devastating injury to Neil's top goalscorer in the 2nd half was a huge turning point in this game as Biffta showed their metal and fought back for a 2nd time. For the first time in over 2 seasons Neil dropped a point as Biffta earned a very worthy point in a 5-5 score line. What a game.

It was great to see you all over at Waterside again all playing the game we love. Only one match wee before we start the new season where we are due to expand to 12 teams! See you all again next week.
