Thrilling matches and impressive individual performances marked the kick-off of the Brighton And Hove Thursday Football league, as the season began in earnest last night. The leagues inaugural week featured a series of hard-fought contests, with both underdogs and favourites alike displaying their prowess on the pitch.
PREMIER LEAGUE
In the Premier League division, a high-scoring and nail-biting match saw Als Pals FC overcome Withdean Wanderers in a 7-5 thriller. Mo Leicester City kicked off their campaign in style, recording a commanding 9-4 victory over Flush N Finish FC. The division’s final match of the evening proved to be the closest, with Immigrante FC edging past Goal Getters in a 9-8 shootout.
The star performer of the Premier League division was undoubtedly Joe Carballo of Withdean Wanderers. Despite his team's loss, Carballo was in sensational form, notching up a hat-trick to establish himself as the division’s top scorer after the first round of matches.
DIVISION ONE
Over in Division 1, the season began with a bang as Yaws U18s dominated Pin Universe, racking up an impressive 13-1 victory. The star of the match was Zac Tobin of Yaws U18s who scored a hat-trick, equalling Carballo's early lead in the race for golden boot.
