Stamford Sunday's 6 a side football league saw some nail-biting matches in a 'winner-stays-on' showdown. The matches were intense, fast paced and the results could have gone either way in each duel. However, in the end, Woowaweewa Wonderers emerged victorious against The 6ers and Luka is Goated, winning the game with a score of 3-2-0.

The Premier League division had a break from traditional 30 min games and embarked on a unique, old school winner-stays-on format, returning players to their inner-child of yesteryear.  Each match was closely fought, with no team giving an inch. The smart money was on 6ers going in to the fixture.  However, it was the Woowaweewa Wonderers who managed to come out on top, thanks to the efforts of their goal scorer extraordinaire, George Hunter. Oh and a fatal mistake from Cian Lowrey in the 6ers net aided the win too; Grobbelaar has nothing on this guy ...... #safepairofhands

In a bid to protect their 3-2-0 lead James from Woowa almost refused to let his team play the last five minute fixture, citing #late4bed and #toomuchicecream as pitiful excuses.  Unfortunately for a tired 6ers team they just couldn't find a way through to level the scores.

Despite not breaking the duck Luka is Goated weren't without chances, Kian made some great saves to keep them in with a chance but without Sam and Mat the opposition goal was seldom seriously threatened.

The night was a great example of the competitive spirit that is present in the Stamford Sunday football league. The players on all teams left nothing on the field. The fans were cheering them on from the sidelines, creating an electric atmosphere that added to the excitement of the game.

The league organizers were pleased with the turnout and the level of competition displayed by the teams on the night. They are looking forward to the finale, which promises to be just as thrilling as this one.

Overall, it was a great night for football enthusiasts, and the Premier League division did not disappoint. The Woowaweewa Wonderers were deserved winners, and George Hunter's hat-trick was a testament to his skill and determination.
