Football enthusiasts were treated to an exhilarating round of matches on the ninth week of the Axminster Wednesday League which also saw the start of a new Div 1. In the Premier League, we saw some intense competition and excellent footwork as teams battled it out on the pitch while Div 1 was much the same with the new teams joining.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Perry's Disabled held their own against Ansu Fatties in a narrow victory, ending the match with a tight score of 1-0. However, it was Vikings FC who stole the limelight, defeating Nice To Michu with a decisive 4-1 win. Their indomitable spirit and deft handling of the ball was indeed a sight to behold.
Another notable match was between The Roy's and Farmers Weekly where goals rained with Farmers Weekly emerging victorious with a 6-3 score. Mark Pearse of Farmers Weekly proved his mettle by scoring an impressive total of 4 goals, securing his spot as the top scorer of the Premier League division this week. Finally there was an impressive performance by Uplyme & Sinker who won 6-0 against Queens Park Strangers.
DIVISION ONE
Meanwhile, in Division 1, the competition was just as fierce. The Deans clinched a victory against Anchors Away in a high scoring match, with the final score at 5-3. Sigmas United, however, struggled against CUFC, who dominated the game and emerged victorious with a 5-1 win.
Oliver Kapur shone brightly for Anchors Away, even in defeat, by scoring a hat trick and becoming the top scorer in Division 1 for the week. His performance, despite the team's loss, promises exciting prospects for his future matches.
As we look forward to next week's fixtures, one thing is certain - the Axminster Wednesday League continues to provide a thrilling display of local football talent. The shifting tides of each division keep fans eagerly awaiting the next clash and speculating on who will come out on top.
