The Chesterfield Sunday 6-a-side football league kicked off its new season yesterday with a thrilling night of action across five divisions.
In Division 1, Shamima Bagsome started their campaign on a high note with a 4-2 win over Norfolk & Good. The game saw some excellent football with Shamima Bagsome taking the lead. In another game, WFC managed a solid victory of 1-0 against DFM FC, while Manjdog Men secured a 2-1 win over Intermigran FC. These initial results have set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season in Division 1.
Division 2 saw a close match between Boca Seniors and Ladzio, with the latter clinching victory with a scoreline of 2-1. Stroke City made a strong statement with a resounding 5-0 win against Kante Fit My Willian, marking themselves as the ones to watch this season.
Taaaahhhn ruled the roost in Division 3, defeating BCS Young Boys 5-0. In another match, Parking The Bus FC edged out Hawk Tuah Fc 3-1.
Jamface FC had a rough start in Division 4, succumbing to BTPSG FC 0-4. The winners showed a stellar performance, marking their intent for the rest of the season.
In Division 5, Puyol Pants Down and AC MIGRAN shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw. Both teams showed promise and it'll be interesting to see how they fare as the season progresses.
As we move into the second week, it's clear that every division has its own set of litmus tests for the teams. It's too early to predict top scorers, but with the fantastic display of football on week 1, the Chesterfield Sunday league is surely set for an exhilarating season.
