COWES 6 A SIDE - WEEK 9 ROUND UP

We had another excellent night down at Cowes Enterprise College last night for week 9 of our season of 6 a side in Cowes

Only Diverse Cowboys were missing, unable to raise a side against the unbeaten league leaders this week. Always disappointing when that happens but they should be back next week. Some great games were played so check out the week 9 results below.

PREMIER LEAGUE

League leaders St Mary's faced our newest side Balotelli-Tubbies and had to work hard for their points. A determined performance from the mostly academy side meant that the league leaders only came away with a 3 - 0 scoreline. Lee Mackensie netting a well taken hat-trick. The lead increases though to 4 points and Man Chest Hair Utd now become the nearest challengers in the title race following their convincing 10 - 2 win over Robbin Ma Koch. Nathan Martin and Jamie Barratt scored hat-tricks as Robbin Ma Koch slide into the relegation zone. Just below them still are Touch Matip who suffered a 10 - 1 defeat to to IOW Inbreds who look a decent side despite last weeks heavy defeat to Pique Blinders. Joe Calder scored 4 as Touch Matip struggled and had it not been for some fine saves from keeper Michael Jenkins the score could have been higher. I'm sure both Matip and Robbin Ma Koch are looking forward to the prospect of a return to division one football next season. Striker Billy Chugg returned from injury (again) to help his side Old Guns get the better of Pique Blinders in the final top flight game of the night. His goal along with one from Josh Tombleson enough to see them home 2 - 1 and they now sit 4th in the table.

DIVISION ONE

How I Met Your Mata claimed their 9th win out of 9 with a points match result against Diverse Cowboys who were absent, big thanks to Balotelli-Tubbies for giving Mata a great game in their place. The lead is now 6 points and the league title seems a certainty, Chewbacca The Net remain the nearest rivals and they won again too, getting the better of One Inch Wonders 3 - 1 to pull ahead of them into 2nd place. Victor Moses Lawn had a player sent off for petulant dissent towards the officials in their 6 - 4 defeat to Millers Mayhems, this was a really good game apart from the childish dissent, the player will miss 2 weeks of games and have a fine to pay so hopefully he will learn that at Leisure League we respect the officials or we get banned. It's pretty simple really. Joe Hinchcliffe scored 3 for Millars who are in great form recently and now move up to 5th with Hit The Wheel losing 3 - 1 to bottom side Fill Her Wycombe. Oscar Townson bagged a brace for Fill Her who's 2nd win of the season was well deserved.

So there we have it, the sending off aside it was a brilliant night of games in Cowes. Big thanks as always to our refs Calum and Jukesy this week, if you are interested in joining this league just get in touch with Rob on 07538562547 or just register via the link below.
