EXPANDED 6 A SIDE LEAGUE SEASON UNDERWAY IN COWES

It was a wet and windy night that welcomed our teams back to Cowes for the launch of our brand new season of 6 a side at the Isle of Wight's premier 4G playing surface. The new set up included 5 new teams as we kicked off the 2 divisional set up with all 12 in attendance despite the weather. Great work from our officials too who ensured a great night of games took place despite the conditions. The automated fixture generator threw two of our new teams thrown together for the 1st round of matches in the top flight as Unreal Madrid got going against fellow newbies DBS. A tight opening episode for both teams, separated by just a single goal for Unreal giving them the points. Reigning champions St Marys got off to a strong start against another new team in MillersMayhems. Duncan Millar was the star for the champions netting 6 of his team's 8 without reply from The Mayhems who will have to look to bounce back next week against Pique Blinders. They will meet a tough challenge though with Pique who have started well themselves having got the better of Old Guns last night. Elliot Bracken-Lamb bagged a couple for his team as they edged past the former champions 3 - 2. The premier league looks to be very competitive this season so hopefully we have a close title race all the way to the end of the season.

The brand new Division One includes a number of last seasons prem teams along with a couple of new teams. Again the fixtures pitted the two new teams against each other in the 1st week and Fill Her Wycombe came away with the points getting past Hit The Wheel 3 - 1. Jayden Long added a much needed goal threat to the Robbin Ma Koch side and his 4 goals helped the team to a 5 - 2 win over Diverse Cowboys to give them a strong start to the season. The other game in Division One was an absolute classic with Victor Moses Lawn locking horns with Baines on Toast in an epic game that ended 5 - 5 with goals from Vinnie Morgan (2) Ben Colder, Aiden Tilbrook and Harvey cancelled out by strikes from Mark Osment (2) Rhys Brierley, Jarred Fisher and Owen Connolly to get both sides up and running for the season with a point.

Week Two offers up some more exciting fixtures and we just hope the weather is a little more favourable then, well done to all our teams and officials for a great opening night of the season.
