End Of The Season at Abingdon Monday 5 a side

Thank you to all our teams and officials on a great season at our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league down at Tilsley Park. This season has not been without it's challenges due to covid issues stretching back throughout and we still aren't out of the words yet, however it's been great to be able to get out a play 5 a side football again over the past few months.

Congratulations to all our champions and promotions winning sides. Hard luck to the teams that couldn't quite beat the drop, it's a fresh start in a lower division next time round when we start back on Monday 20th September.

One team that has dominated proceedings all season in the Premier League are AFC Wantage who won the league by a massive 10 points winning all 14 of their games scoring 92 goals in the process. They rounded off their season with an excellent 6-4 win over another strong side in Cooper's Troopers. Hadland Rovers finished in the runners up spot with Poortugal and Hardly heading to Div 1.

Unprotected Cesc had to work hard to win the Div 1 title as they won 7-5 against Murder On Zidane's Floor to finish two points clear of Abingdonny's who also sealed promotion with a 14-5 win over Matip. Substandard Liege and Where's Mike Gale move on to Div 2 for next season.

Ivory Toast won the Div 2 title by 3 points from Norfolk N Clue who go up to Div 1 with them. Toast just missed out on the title and promotion last season so it was a well deserved trophy as they finished the season with a big win over Relegation Rovers who join 2 Girls One Schlupp in Div 3 next season.

Two teams that have been neck and neck all season are Royal Madrid and Don Johnson in Div 3 as they went into the final day of the season level on points. With Royal Madrid holding just a 2 goal lead in goal difference it was down to Don Johnson to better their result and claim the title. They certainly set down a challenge for Madrid as they won 12-0 to go top before Madrid faced Inter in their final game. It was close but Madrid did the business and won 13-0 to reclaim the top spot and win the title. A superb effort from both sides.

Finally I'd like to say a big thank you to our match night supervisor Dean and our regular refs Ben, Martin and Ian who without we couldn't run the night. The new season begins on Monday 20th September. We have some new teams coming in and some that have had to vacate the league due to Uni now, there is still room for another two teams so get signed up for free as soon as possible to avoid the waiting list. Any questions please call on 07969 731086 or sign up your team below, thanks Rich
