Abingdon Monday 5 a side Christmas round up!

It was our last night of football this year at our Abingdon 5 a side league, remember no Wednesday or Thursday league's this week. It was a great turn out so close to Christmas with 27 out of 30 teams in attendance so top effort to all our captains!

It looks like it's turning into a two horse race at the top of the Premier League as Massive Irons and Costa Rica both produced wins last night. Irons looked strong in their 11-2 win over Sporting John while Costa Rica also impressed against The Village, winning 6-2. In the other game Ab's All White's pulled themselves out of the bottom two with a 8-2 win away at Royal Madrid.

We have new leaders in Div 1 as Cunning Stunts went top with a 5-3 victory at Marshall Massive, Tom Taylor registering a brace. Schindlers Assist also moved up in to the top two as they drew 3-3 with Expected Toulouse. Goals Aloud picked up a 5-0 win as they played BeanzBurgzBosh in a friendly with Pathetico Madrid away this week.

James Killner scored five times for Div 2 leaders Only Put Matip In as they made it five wins on the bounce, beating Hardly Athletic 13-5. We had a couple of Christmas crackers in the other two games, firstly The Sticky Bandits edged it 5-4 against Intayanan to go into second spot while FC Unts won 8-6 against UpTheDucks, Shane VanDerlowen with a hat-trick for Unts while Cam Godwin hit one for Ducks.

FC Copenbadly impressed in the battle of the top two in Div 3 against FC Power Rangers, winning it 8-2 to maintain their 100% record and move two points clear. Substandard Liege closed the gap to the promotion places to two points after an 11-4 win at McFattys. Survey Monkey's picked up a 5-0 win in the other game with Kick It In The Net-ics away at late notice, they played Destine Toulouse in a friendly.

Sluts N Bolts remain on course for the Div 4 title as they kept alive their perfect record with a 8-4 victory against a spirited Destined Toulouse side. Bacon Mbappe move up to third in the table after a strong performance to beat Relegation Rovers 6-0, Tom Carter and Kieran Fuller both with braces. Finally BeanzBurgzBosh picked up a 5-0 win with Rhythm Of Van Dijk away this week.

Big thank you to Dean for running all our evenings at Tilsley Park this year along with a big thank you to all our refs and players. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. We are back on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th January while the Monday league returns on the 9th January. Thanks Rich

NEW TEAMS

January is normally our busiest month for team sign ups with only limited spaces available. We have a space on Wednesday and Thursday so best to register now to avoid disappointment in January. Thanks Rich
