Abingdon Monday 5 a side end of season!

In an exhilarating climax to the Abingdon Monday 5 a side Football league, the last week of the season, Week 18, witnessed some high voltage clashes and thrilling performances that kept us on the edge of our seats.

DIVISION ONE  

In Division 1, Anker United and new team Up Dias ended in a deadlock with both teams scoring 4 goals each, while Backstreet Moyes triumphed over Milf Slayers with a 6-4 victory. However, none of these performances could deter team Cameroon Diaz from claiming the Division 1 title as they picked up the maximum 36 points from 18 victories.

DIVISION TWO

Meanwhile, in Division 2, FC Unts outperformed Cunning Stunts with a 5-2 win while Intayanan beat Puyol Pants Down with a 8-4 win although Puyol still secure the second promotion spot. FC Unts displayed an extraordinary season and took home the Division 2 winner's trophy with a total of 31 points and 15 wins. In other Div 2 games Survey Monkey won 7-2 against Goals Aloud, Substandard Liege defeated Hardly Athletic 7-5 while Only Put Matip In won away at The Jefecitos 5-2.

DIVISION THREE

Division 3 had its own share of excitement. Expected Toulouse FC narrowly edged out Bumfica with a 2-1 victory while champions The Broad Beans outclassed runners up Eze Top 3 with a massive 13-6 win. The Broad Beans emerged as the winners of Division 3, securing a total of 34 points and 17 wins. In other games Adam Johnsons U9s won 10-2 against His Mind FC, Wenger Fun Stop Stops drew 5-5 with Fiorentina Turner while in low scoring game Schofields U15s edged it 1-0 against Kick It In The Net-ics.

In terms of individual performances, the Golden Boot in Div 2 was shared between Shane Vanderlowen and Sam Fielden of FC Unts with 26 goals each. The Div 3 award was won by Adam Holloway of The Broad Beans who scored 56 goals and also picked up 6 MVP awards this season to win the Player Of The Season medal.

The Abingdon Monday league has once again shown why it is one of the most awaited local football events. As the season wraps up, the performances, skill and passion displayed by the teams have set high expectations for the next season. Congratulations to all the winners, and here’s looking forward to another fantastic season of football.
