ABINGDON MONDAY 5 A SIDE RESULTS - MATCH DAY 13
Under the floodlights last night, Week 13 of the Abingdon Monday league, a thrilling 5-a-side football competition, unfolded with some surprising results across Divisions 1, 2, and 3.
DIVISION ONE
In Division 1, Backstreet Moyes emerged victorious with a resounding 9-3 win over Anker United, demonstrating their offensive prowess and determination. Despite the defeat, Anker United showed moments of brilliance that promise potential for the remaining matches. However, the highlight of the division was perhaps the commanding performance by leaders Cameroon Diaz who outplayed Makeshift FC in a 12-2 victory. Aspergio Aguero just managed to edge out Osama 6-5 in a nail-biting game. Egg Fried Reus picked up a 5-0 win due to the space in Div 1 so the title race rumbles on with Diaz holding a 3 point advantage.
DIVISION TWO
Division 2 saw a draw between Goals Aloud and Cunning Stunts, both teams settling for a 3-3 draw in a closely fought match. Leaders Puyol Pants Down, however, stole the show with a dominating 12-1 victory against Ivory Toast, setting a high standard in goal-scoring prowess. FC Unts managed to overcome Hardly Athletic 11-6 in a high-scoring encounter to stay a point behind Puyol while Only Put Matip In secured a comfortable 6-2 win against Substandard Liege. Third place Intayanan also had a straight forward win this week, beating Survey Monkeys 8-1.
DIVISION THREE
In Division 3, Fiorentina Turner triumphed over Bumfica with a 6-3 victory while Eze Top 3 defeated Expected Toulouse FC 8-2 in an impressive display of tactical play. The drama peaked when leaders The Broad Beans claimed an overwhelming victory against His Mind FC, with an eye-watering scoreline of 18-2. Wenger Fun Stops Stop won 6-3 away at Kick It In The Net-ics while Schofields U15s gave a really good account of themselves despite a narrow 6-5 lose to Adam Johnson's U9s.
The top scorers in each division were undoubtedly Cameroon Diaz in Division 1, Puyol Pants Down in Division 2, and The Broad Beans in Division 3. Their phenomenal performances have set the bar incredibly high for upcoming matches.
