Abingdon Monday 5 a side returns after Christmas break!

Happy New Year to everyone at our Abingdon Monday night 5 a side league. It was great to be back in action last night although with Oxford United playing Arsenal in the FA Cup we did have half a dozen teams away. Thanks for those that gave us plenty of notice, unfortunately a couple left it late to tell us. It didn't dampen the mood though with plenty of exciting games.

A couple of teams in the Prem were away however the only league match was a cracker with Royal Madrid winning 5-3 at The Village, forward Sam Warner grabbing himself a hat-trick. Costa Rica and AB's All Whites both picking up 5-0 wins.

Schindlers Assist went top of the Div 1 table with a narrow 5-4 win over an unlucky Marshall Massive, how they are bottom without a point I don't know, John Plant with a hat-trick for the league leaders. Pathetico Madrid moved into second after a 7-3 away win against Cunning Stunts while Goals Aloud defeated Expected Toulouse 5-3 to climb out of the drop zone.

Dan Coleman out scored strike partner James Killner 5 goals to 3 as Div 2 leaders Only Put Matip In won 11-5 against UpTheDucks, that's six wins on the trot for Matip this season. The Sticky Bandits remain second as they picked up a 5-0 win with Hardly Athletic away. FC Unts also won 11-5 and are up to third place as they defeated Intayanan, Sam Fielden top scoring with a hat-trick.

We had three teams away in Div 3 so Survey Monkey's, Substandard Liege and Kick It In The Net-ics all picked up 5-0 wins but were all in attendance for friendly matches. In Div 4 all teams were in attendance so we had three league games. Sluts N Bolts made it six wins from six games as they defeated a dogged Relegation Rovers 6-4. Rhythm Of Van Dijk stay second after a 4-1 away win at Bacon Mbappe while Destined Toulouse recorded a 8-3 home win against BeanzBurgzBosh.
