Abingdon Monday 5 a side season round up!

ABINGDON MONDAY 5 A SIDE SEASON ROUND UP!!!

First of all thank you to all our players, captains and of course our referee's on a great season of 5 a side at Tilsley Park. It was good to see all 30 teams in attendance for the final round of matches and the majority of teams seeing the season through from start to finish. Congratulations to all our champions and our MVP and Golden Boot winners. Here's a full round up of what happened in each division:

PREMIER LEAGUE

Costa Rica FC are crowned Premier League champions for the first time after winning promotion last season from Div 1. Congratulations to them on finishing the season in top spot and ending it with a 6-4 win over Royal Madrid. Massive Irons will be back in contention next season and rounded off their games with a 12-2 victory against AB's All Whites. The Village finished strongly with a 5-1 against Sporting John however both will be lining up next season in Div 1.

DIVISION ONE

What a title race it's been in Div 1 this season with the top four teams all finishing within two points of each other. The promotion places and the title were up for grabs on the final day but it was Pathetico Madrid who lifted the trophy after a 1-1 draw with Schindlers Assist. Goals Aloud won a thriller against Cunning Stunts 6-5 to move into the second promotion spot. The two relegated sides met as Wantage Washouts defeated Expected Toulouse 7-4.

DIVISION TWO

The title was already secured in Div 2 as Only Put Matip In finished three points clear of The Stick Bandits who are also promoted. Matip ended with a 2-2 draw against FC Unts, not sure if they received the guard of honour they requested thought lol. The Sticky Bandits won 8-2 at home to UpTheDucks while Intayanan picked up a 12-7 victory against Hardly Athletic, Dan Garlick finding the bag of the net five times. Hardly and UpTheDucks will face each other against next season in Div 3.

DIVISION THREE

FC Copenbadly continue to march up the league, they really should have had a 100% record but missed one game during the season. They round off another title with a 8-4 win over McFattys. Substandard Liege sealed an immediate return to Div 2 after last season's relegation, they ended with a 4-3 win over Survey Monkey's. Kick It In The Net-ics head to Div 4 next season but did finish on a high, beating Soggy Busquets 3-0.

DIVISION FOUR

Sluts N Bolts finished as the only team with a 100% record this season in the league, ending their campaign with a 5-3 win over a good Rhythm Of Van Dijk side who are unlucky to miss out on promotion on goal differnce to Relegation Rovers. Congratulations to Relegation Rovers who narrow beat Destined Toulouse 4-3 and moved into second, maybe a name change to Promotion Rovers for next season lol. Bacon Mbappe won the final game 7-4 against BeanzBurgzBosh to complete our round up.

MVP WINNER

Congratulations to James Sweeny of Expected Toulouse on 4 MVP awards for his team this season. Please remember if you want to be in with a chance of winning MVP awards you need to have an account and be registered, there's a couple teams without any registered players and others with everyone registered. It's down to the captains to get on it!!!
