New Abingdon Monday 5 a side season gets underway!

The new Abingdon Monday night 5 a side got underway last night after a great start for England in their World Cup campaign. We did have a handful of teams away but it was still an excellent turn out.

In the Premier League Massive Irons and Costa Rica FC picked up 5-0 wins with Sporting John and Royal Madrid away while The Village had a solid start to the season, beating AB's All Whites 3-0, Matt Bottomley scoring two.

Harry Ackland was on target 4 times as he helped new boy's Pathetico Madrid go top of Div 1 with a 6-1 win over Expected Toulouse. Cunning Stunts were awarded a 5-0 win due to Schindler's Assist being away. Div 2 champions Goals Aloud started with a 8-4 win over another new team Marshall Massive.

There were tight games in Div 2 as Only Put Matip In went top after winning 3-1 against Intayanan. The Sticky Bandits narrowly beat FC Unts 2-1 at home while both UpTheDucks and Hardly Athletic booked the week off, knowing well in advance allowed me to put them against each other gaining them a point each and avoided them having to pay match fees so thanks for that, it's much appreciated.

Tomos Knight had his shooting boots on as he fired his team Substandard Liege to the top of Div 3 with 5 strikes, final score 6-2 against Kick It In The Net-ics. James Pearson scored a hat-trick for Div 4 champions FC Copenbadly as they started a division higher with a 7-4 victory against Survey Monkey's. Another striker in red hot form was Aaran Mudie who also scored 5 for his team FC Power Rangers who defeated McFatty's 6-3.

We welcome BeanzBurgzBosh to the league from next Monday as they come into Div 4 to fill the last spot. Just two league games in Div 4 last night, Sluts N Bolts winning 7-3 against Bacon Mbappe while Rhythm Of Van Dijk won 6-3 against Destined Toulouse.

Thank you to all our teams and to Dean and our match officials including Will who helped with us being short on refs this week. Thanks Rich
